The topics were generated from clinical experiences of faculty or hospital staff, identified areas of weakness by former students, previous “missed” student test questions, and accepted clinical standards/guidelines and/or research. Nursing students and clinicians have pilot tested these scenarios. Revisions and updates have been made in response to participants' input and new evidence based practices."

The North Central Texas Health Care Consortium in partnership with Education Management Solutions, Inc (EMS) offers basic, intermediate, and advanced scenarios for beginning, junior, and senior nursing students. Patient safety and quality topics are incorporated throughout the scenarios. Students are encouraged to use the knowledge they've acquired and demonstrate an understanding of the patient problem by applying an appropriate nursing action.
